x-posting from LS400 forum.
I have a 92 LS400 with a Nak sound system and 6-CD changer. I can turn the volume up all the way and only very faintly hear the radio or CD - whichever I have playing. I can even change CDs using the controls. Lexus took out the amp and sent it off somewhere. When they got it back, they reinstalled it and told me it was fine. They told me they could get me a remanufactured Nak stereo for $1400. I'm certainly not going there, but it doesn't sound right to me since I can actually hear the stereo - just very faint. Any ideas?
Thanks.

The problem is usually due to the 4 in nak mids in the car going bad. When this happens the only speakers left are the front door tweeters and the rear subwoofer and this is exactly what it sounds like. I just had a lexus dealer bring a car the other day that they had replace the radio then the amp and then realized that they had no clue as to what to do next. We put 4 new speakers in it and called it a day.

I have the same problem with my amp. When it gets hot the volume goes down. I'll just replace the amp and all the speakers, already replaced the sub with a Kenwood...sounds great but the amp is failing....My suggestion to you don't even bother with the Nak amp, just go after market you can still keep the stock radio, it will work fine..
