The stereo shapes looks similar. Question for anyone seeing them side by side? Can I use a 98 GS300 stereo in a 1993?

More than likely the connectors are quite different. Go aftermarket.

actually, i was most concerned about FIT due to model year change between 97-98. Can you speak to the fit of the stereo? I bet the mismatched connector situation, if applicable, could be remedied.

Y do you like that one over the one you have now? If anything I would look for the IS300 one because its got the built in 6 disc in dash changer IMO.

But like it has been said, its gonna be a pain in the **** to have it installed but anything's possible with enough drive, money and creativity. I would go aftermarket too then you can add stuff like NAvi etc down the road

let me reword the question a bit. I don't have any preferences once way or another, I am just curious.

Will a stock 1998 Lexus GS300 stereo fit into the stock location of a 1993 Lexus without modification to the dash? That is all I really want to know.

I highly doubt it would be a direct drop in because they may have changed the dash design (first problem) and then 2, the brackets may not match up. You probably can get around both but you'll have to do custom work to make it happen. Finally you'll have to probably splice the wiring or play with both harnesses for the 98 GS radio plus the one from the 93 to get the wires to match up and power the 98 radio you're seeking
