I finished installing my sub and amp yesterday in my 1995 GS300 with Nakamichi and wanted to share a little bit of info... I've been reading that the factory amp and speakers are rated at 2ohms, but while I was installing my sub, I took out the CD changer and amp... On the bottom of the amp was a sticker that had on it:

40x4 @ 4ohms
100x1 @ 4ohms.

I was surprised to say the least... its not 2 ohms! Thats 260 watts at 4 ohms... not bad. Also, I always thought the sub was only getting 70 watts, but looks like it gets 100.

FYI, I put a Alpine type R 12" DVC sub in a .88cf sealed box with a 1000watt (2ohms) Crunch USA amp pushing it. Sounds real good... definately a big improvement

My next upgrade will probably be some component speakers up front and possibly in the back doors. I'm gonna try to keep the factory amp to power those. I was looking into infinity 50.3cs (5.25), 60.3cs (6.5) or boston acoustics pro 5.5 or 6.5 mounted on a custom MDF baffle in the place of the factory 4" box. The infinity have really shallow mounting depth requirements, but the boston acoustics run at 3 ohms for a little bit more loudness... Anyone have any suggestions for component speakers in the <=200 per set price range?
