Exclamation 98 GS400 Pioneer factory question

I've done a search. I found that the pioneer amp is behind the glove box with a blue, gray, and orange plugs. I found those plugs....now where is my amp? Is it possible that this unit has no factory amp? If so, can I buy a metra kit for the new deck?

The deck I'm taking out

The plugs that i found

Check the right side kickpanel, NEAR the glovebox, but not behind it. You'll have to remove the panel. Best way to find it...sit in the passenger side (i know...it's wierd!), swing yourself to the right. Your feet will hit the panel that needs to be removed. After it's removed, look UP INTO that area. You'll find the amp there.

Percy, thanks. Do you know if its best to run new wire through the doors or to tap and extend off the harness to install my 4 channel? I worked at a stereo shop 13 years ago so I'm definately out of the loop but I still know what I'm doing for the most part haha.

What I did was I tapped into the OEM amp right at the plugs and ran my wires to the rear of the car to my LLC. Then I feed the interconnects to my amps, and then I ran new speaker wire to each door. Lots of work but its well worth it.

If you don't want to cut the wires or tap into them, the Metra Toyota wiring harness will plug into the speaker plugs from the factory amp. The only connection not supplied through the Metra harness is the subwoofer wires. It is easy enough to use a micro screw driver to remove 2 of the unused wires and relocate them to the sub connections.
The process is described in this thread:

I just finished my install described in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=193927
