the home depot around me only have the 4' by 8' i believe. The really big sheets. They dont have them any smaller for MDF. Only the particle boards.
They cant cut down the big sheets for me because of cancer hazard and eye irritations. (went to 2 home depot)

Is there any difference using MDF as opposed to particle board? When I made my baffle for my 12" sub (free air), I used 3/4 inch particle board. I am planning on making baffles for the front doors to mount new components (6.5 inch). If there is an advantage to MDF, I want to use what will give me the best install and sound reproduction possible.

alright, so home depot wouldnt cut it anymore (went to 2)
Contractors warehouse has a lumberyard where you drive your truck through (i dont have a truck)
Went to lowes and they were happy to cut it for me. Guy that was helping me out called home depot lazy since all the saws they use have vacuum suctions anyways.
So if you need MDF, goto lowes.

lol, yea. Friend went to one in Northridge. As the worker was cutting the first half, his boss came and started *****ing. They wouldnt even finish the other cuts so my friend just walked away.
I went to North Hollywood Home depot and El Monte Home Depot. They told me No.
My last stop was at Lowes in Burbank.

They're complaining because of the formadehyde used in making MDF board. But then if you read up on Minwax woodfiller, they also have a "cancer causing agent", but they won't specify what it is. Still, if you cut MDF, be sure to have goggles, mask and a vacuum/dust elimination system.
A small speaker company, humbly known as Dynaudio, treats their MDF boards to highly reduce the outgassing of formaldehyde. So, even if it's not cut, the stuff still outgasses. Catch 22.
Has anyone tried Baltic Birch? I have that for my front baffles and they seem to work fine.
