I've searched and can't find the original post that I found a few months back on replacing the Climate Control LCD screen.....it involved removing the old one and resoldering the new one in it's place and even had a pic showing the process. Also does anyone know the source that you can buy the new LCD screen from? Mine is starting to go dark from the edge, so I know it won't be long before total darkness.

Hey my first post!

I wrote up a tutorial based on various sorces of information from this and other sites, and it is being posted in the Australian Soarer site, soarercentral.com at the moment under 'how to and tutorials' give it 24 hours or so and it should be up there.

The tut explains how to remove the a/c control panel, as well as how to change the colour of the LCD and button backlighting.

I guess E-Bay is a good source for replacement A/C control units or Yahoo Japan, providing you don't mind the right hand drive.

Excuse fuzzy photo, but you get the idea.

I am also writing up a tut on the door lighting too.....

He's got a detail tutorial on how to replace the LCD screen on 1st generation LS400s.

If you have a 90-94 LS400, you can contact either Jim Walker at jimlwalker@sbcglobal.net (I think Jim only sells screens for 90-92) or Sam with Mikado Technology at remotes4you@yahoo.com for replacement screens. Both also sell their screens on Ebay - Jim Walker as lex-pert and Sam as remotes4cars. For a fee, they'll also do the soldering for you. If you have the time and patience, buying through Ebay probably is cheaper. I think the going rates on Ebay are somewhere around $120 to $150 for the replacement screens.

For other years and models, do a search under "Lexus Climate Control" on Ebay and you should find a lot of replacement units available for sale.

All I ever find on there is whole units....and really with those it's a crap shoot whether or not it will last very long or start to black out.....I am looking for just the LCD panel itself that I can solder in place of the old blacked out one and retain my original climate control unit. I found the page that shows it being done on an LS400....so i'm thinking if the LCD panels are available for the LS surely someone must know where to find the SC panel.

Jim Walker's auction just ended on 1/30/06 so there is none available from him at this moment.

Maybe in a couple of days he may start another auction for his screens.

These are replacements LCD screens for 90-94 LS400s so if your Lexus is of another year or model then you won't be able to use these.

yeah these are for LS400...what I'm trying to find out is if anyone knows if there is an SC400 replacement LCD even available?? So far I have found that the LS has replacement LCD's...but any for the SC?

I don't think you will find any LCD screens for SC models being offered by anybody right now.

there is a huge demand for these LCD's....there must be a way we can get new ones! I think Toyota/Lexus should hook us up
