2001 GS430 with Nak & Navi Sub install
Ok i have done so much searching, my eyes hurt. I need some specific questions answered.
I am replacing the stock sub with an Alumapro Alchemy FA. It is going to be here on wednesday. I have not picked out an amp yet. My car is a 2001 GS430 with navi, and I guess Nakamichi system.
My questions:
1. Do I really need an LLC or can I just get an amp with a high-level input? It seems like that may work as well, but I am not sure.
2. How do I wire up the remote wire? I do not want to put in any switches, or other garbage. I want the sub to function without any manual input. I want to set it up so that when the stereo goes on, the amp turns on automatically (via remote wire).
3. Where is the stock amp. Is it in the dash, or is it in the back somewhere?
Please help. Thanks in advance.

1. If your amp has high level inputs then you dont need a LLC.
2. Not to sure which wire you can tap into for a remote but can be easily found by using a test light or a voltmeter. With the car started and stereo on, test which wire on the amp is giving a 12volt signal. If the signal turns off when you turn off the car or stereo then you found a good signal for remote. Some LLC has a remote wire which comes on when it senses a signal from the stereo.
3. Location of amp is in the trunk on the right side under the flaps.

Wow thanks for all the help. I was soo worried that my amp was in the dash. I think I will end up going with an LLC. My buddy is selling me his Rockford Fosgate BD1000.1 for $200. So I think I will take it and mate it with the LLC. Thanks for the help.
One more question. Can anyone recommend an LLC to buy. I want one with a remote wire, thanks in advance.

I don't really know. But none of my speakers say ML, nothing. I know for fact that my SC has ML. It is also a 2001, and it says ML everywhere. The base also hits way harder than in the GS. Waaaaaaayyyyyyy harder.
