MG can probably help me again with this one...
i have my 5-channel V12, and i'm considering adding another amp to improve bass. the 5th channel has 250W rms. is it possible to add another 2/1 channel amp and use it in conjunction with this 5 channel, to send more power to the subs? if so, how could this be wired up?
thanks,
-Corey

Corey - R U talking about using that 250 wrms fifth channel to run one sub & then adding another amp ( mono or 2 channel ) to drive the other sub? That's not gonna be hard to do at all with another LLC for the second sub amp. However, if U're talking about wiring in another amp downstream of the V-12's fifth channel ( like batteries in series or parallel ) to increase your power, not sure it can be done & surely wouldn't be worth the trouble. If ya go the first route, make sure that the second amp's power is compatable to that 250 wrms rating of the V-12. Also, aren't the V-12's regulated amps? If so, better either get another regulated amp or just buy a second one dedicated to BOTH subs & save that fifth channel for something later - maybe a center channel & use a 5.1 setup?

yeah, i didnt think wiring another amp downstream would work. seems dangerous to me anyway.
ok, so if i add the mrv-t707 V12 which is 240x1 rms, and run this to one sub and the 5th channel at 250x1 rms to the other sub, would that be compatible enough?
it's not that i'm in love with Alpine products, but they are very easy for me to get.
btw, a center channel is way down on my list of priorities although that is a good idea...

Corey - Not really up on my Alpine info but the power match is fine ( 240 vs 250 ) as long as the speakers are running in the same impedance. I know manufacturers rate their amps into 4 ohm loads/channel so if your info's correct, then U'll be good to go. However, I was just looking at a recent 2001 Product Directory ( from CA&E ) & it shows the MRV-T707 as 70x2 wrms into 4 ohms so that's only 140 wrms running mono ( bridged ) into the same 4 ohm load. Where does the 240 wrms figure U have come from? Maybe U have some more recent literature than I have. I also see that this amp does have a HP/LP crossover built in so I'm assuming ( oops, that word again!! ) that the fifth channel on the MRD-F752 is a dedicated sub channel & therefore designed for a low pass signal only? Just give me a kickback so I don't screw up some good advice!!

the t707 is 70x2Wrms for 2 ohms. the alpine1.com site says it is 240x1Wrms at 4 ohms, so this should be a good match. yes, the 5th channel is designed for sub use and is low pass.
now i think this will finally be enough for the dual W3s i wanted in the first place...

Corey - Forgive me but I've helped some many Members with systems that I can't keep U guys straight ( senior moment, I guess!!
). Which is your head unit ( the IVA? ) & how many RCA outputs does it have? Or R U going through any kind of processor/EQ before the amps? If so, how many outs does it have?
