Default Quick Question. Nav unit in a non-nav car

I have a 99 GS non-nav, regular pioneer. I would like to convert it to a Nav screen headunit. Is it plug and play? I don't want the GPS. I just want to control the A/C and audio from the screen. So if I get a headunit with the screen and audio controls and take mine off, it will work fine?

Should I get a 99 Nav headunit or any model will be fine?

Last Question, Any difference between the Nav headunits between 99-05? will they fit each other?

I know these have been discussed before, but I appreciate a quick response.

thanks,

J

I think you need the nav ecu in order for the screen to work. The 98-00 have a smaller screen and the buttons are layed out differently.
