Default question about front speaker upgrade

HI all..
I just finished working on my driver side door of sc300. I had to cut mdf board all day gosh a lot of work. I took plastic speaker housing out and take off the front part and left rear one and sealed with mdf and sound is pretty good but no bass? I had mbquart 4 inch and took it out and put alpine X-177R in there, I don't feel any difference from 4inch to 6.5inch. I don't really hear any bass, sound is clear but about same as mb quart 4inch. Is this the way it is from component speaker system or shoud I get speaker housing sealed perfectly with dynamat and some silicon.

I have alpine deck, alpine front component 6.5s rear, inninity 5.25 (strong bass). Kicker 8inch freeair woofer. Rockford 4inch amp and 2inch amp for sub. Please help. I searched and read a lot but I coudn;t get any solution.

you shouldnt really be hearing bass from your front speakers. It should be more midbass, like kickdrum sounds, etc. Bass would be produced from subwoofer. But if you have your tweeter turned up to max, somtimes since you have that tweeter blasting in your ear, you wont even really notice the midbass. So in other words, try balancing out the tweeter to complement ur mids, then turn it up and see if it kicks/hits. Sealing it perfectly air tight should not be that big of an issue, but might help.

So what amp(s) are you running if any? Or are they running off of the deck?
It could be a crossover issue here. If your deck or amp is set to HPF (high pass filter) or your equalizer is adjusted so there is no midbass and nothing but highs. Once you make these adjustments you can fine tune the system to sound the way you want it to sound.

We need more info though to give you more accurate advice.
