Diddo here. And as for the speakers being out, thats not the case. I just changed mine today. and turned up the sound and the sub was popping. plus the sub is beautiful, looks brand new, but its 14 years old....but yeah, anyone got an idea on whats going on? Amp not able to handle higher power? or sub just cant? Or is it that wire mesh covering the sub bouncing up or down?

But what part of it is destroyed is what i cant see, cause the diaphram is in perfect condition, and when i look below it the sub looks good too? Is there a distinct spot i can look to make sure what you say is correct or is it something internal?

the surround itself is very weak, and has become "loose" after many years of playing.

Yep its not the speakers

If they are the original it wont hurt to check them just incase, cause the diaphrams on them might be torn

diddo on the teenager here too 19....best advice....get the sub. and as long as the speakers still sound good dont change em...however when i checked mine 3/4 were dead. I got 4 mb quart discus' for 104 total shipped. many say they suck, but i like em sounds pretty good.
