Default Navigation Screen Error

I have a 2002 GS300 and I am having a problem with my navigation system.

Whenever I try to use it I get a yellow screen that says:

CAUTION

Error: System unable to access the program

Incorrect program disk,
Please insert proper disk.

I have not changed the DVD at all. It has been the same disc for over two years now.

The disc I have is:

DVD NAVIGATION MAP
NORTH AMERICA

86271-33032
464210-0370
DATA ver.03.1

Can anybody help? I tried going to the dealer and they said it might be the disc or it could be the computer. The only way to find out is to buy a new disc (at full price) and pray it works and if not replace the computer (plus the cost of the disc that I would have already bought.) I don't like the idea of spending a few hundred dollars on something that "might" work.

Thanks in advance.

hmmm......ive learned if all else fails with ANYTHING, then just reset it. Soooo, I say reset your ECU and see if that helps. Yes you will lose your presets, but if it works then boom you got a quick fix. If not, you're still in the same boat you were in before.

Thanks for replying. I kinda forgot to mention what I had tried in my first post.

I have kept the car battery unpluged overnight... no change

I disconnected all the wires to the nav computer in the truck and left that overnight... no change

I have disconnect all the wires to the navigation screen/radio and left it overnight... no change

I then disconnected all of the above (computer, screen, and car battery), left it that way overnight, and as you can guess... no change

Any other ideas on what to do next?

there can probabaly only be two things.. DVD got damaged over the years of being in there. Or the laser is damaged and is unable to read the disc

I agree, try a lens cleaner for the DVD player and then a CD cleaner for the disk itself.
