Default Any guides to removing factory sub in '06 GS300 ?

I want to remove my factory sub in my ML equipped '06 GS300 and replace it with a free air sub and amp. How would I get to the sub and remove it ? Anybody have pics ?

Hi.. I have 06 ES330 and I innitially wanted to do the exact samething you mentioned so I can have the trunkspace.. I guess you can still do it but it will equire a lot of custom work to re-attach a different size sub in the stock place.

I had a lot discussion with shops, forums and friends and all of em suggested not to go with Free-Air due my trunk size. I am not sure how big is GS trunk. It's mainly because you will be spending a lot of money for all those custom work and end up not satisfied with the sound quality. The options which they suggested were a single 12" sealed box or if you are concern about space then fiber glass which may costs $55 p/Hr but it sure will save you a lot of space..

Bottom line find out from any audio shop if you can install a freeair for your trunksize and go from there buddy...

I recently got my sys installed.. a single 12" in a sealed box.. I am planning to re-design a custom box so I can save more space.. anyways it sounds great!!

Just my 1/2 cent...

No, I would like to just keep the same size which is 10", but just put in a harder hitting sub with an amp. At first i thought I would put in a 10W6V2, but that may be too heavy for the back deck and isn't made for free air, I am thinking about an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10 VDQ or an Elemental Design 11 OV. Both can work free air so no problem there. I would like to know if a 10" sub can just drop in that factory hole, since that sub is a 10" too ?

I talked to the Dealership. That guy wouldnt give me a diagram. Though he explained that the seats needed to be removed, then you had to take the top shelf off, then remove the sub. I think he was talking about an older GS though.

I will try again when I go back to have my alignment fixed. My car is exhibiting that slight pull to the right. So they are ordering camber kits

I guess the dealer doesn't want anyone to go messing around with the car, so no diagram.

I am sure somebody else with an '06 has changed their sub out ???

You could try that techinfo.lexus.com website. Its only $10 a day, and you can download all the pdf diagrams you want.

If you do it, could you aloso download the wiring diagram for the ML amp for the IS350? And the wiring diagram for the Nav on the IS as well.
