Pioneer Avic- Z1
OK today I went in to my local car audio shop to purchase me the new Pioneer Avic Z1. And the installer inform me that it would not work in my 2001 Lexus GS430. Unless I change out everything I would have to replace my factory door speakers and my factory sub and install a new amp, speakers, new sub. Because they say that the unit wont play through my factory stuff . And my other option is they will have to do a amp bypass. Has anybody else hear of this before or are they trying to get more money out of me? If anybody on here has this unit please tell me what I need to do thanks

This has been extensively covered on the IS300 forums. Your stock headunit and Amp are working as a team to produce sound. remove one or the other from the equation, and you will have a degraded sound output with aftermarket audio components.
I just installed the Z1 myself and I opted for new door and deck speakers and an external amp.
The shop is technically correct. its just a matter of how much they wanna charge you from this point on. (parts and labor of course)

It's certainly do-able but a bigger hassle for the shop as they need to trace all the wirings of the stock system to integrate the new HU. At the end you'll have a great HU but still stock sound quality. They can also bypass the stock amp but you still have a problem with the stock speakers being 2 ohms and also no channel to power the sub.
