Default Weird NAV system error: I-66/I-495 near Washington, DC

Anybody in Northern Virginia/Washington DC area with
a Lexus DVD navigation system?

On my system, the computer does not seem to know about the
existense of I-66, eventhough the road has been there for more
than 20 years. For example, I drive eastbound on I-66
just past I-495. If I ask the NAV to take me to DC, it will endlessly
try to make me go off I-66 and take small streets. It is as if
the NAV thinks I-66 is closed or something.

The same thing happens in the opposite direction also.
If I leave DC and get on westbound I-66 and program
Dulles Airport(or anywhere beyond I-495), it will recalculate
and ask me to get off I-66 and take a side street. The system
will ciontinue to recalculate ever few hundred yards and it finally gives up 10 miles later after I get on the Dulles Toll Road.

I know there's nothing wrong with the NAV system because
I tried it with a loaner RX300 from the dealer. It also has the
DVD navigation system. The computer will do the exact same
thing.

Perhaps there's an error when they were making the nav maps?

I have a 01 GS3 with the DVD Nav and live in Gaithersburg. I've only used the Nav one time on I-66, but I had the same problem. It apparently doesn't know the road exists.

If you ever travel on I-270, I'd like to know if you experience the same problem that I've been having - the Nav continually tells you that "I-270 is on the right" at every exit (very bothersome). It does this if you're on the main road or on the local lanes. Hopefully such problems will be corrected on the next disc. It would be nice to have contact information for the manufacturer so that we could report problems like this and know that the problem will be addressed in future editions.

Yes, I have also seen the same problem on I270. I drive
to Rockville/Gaithersburg area quite often.

I reported this to NavTech, since they appear to be the
supplier of the maps. They say they only only provide the
data to Lexus and it is up to Lexus to make changes.
(since Lexus makes its own map DVDs, where as most
other car manufacturers buy the discs from NavTech)

One more funny thing, the system still has info about a Virginia
restaurant that has been closed since '91...

Default does I-66 have any time restriction?

Is there a HOV restriction or a time of day restriction that will prevent you from taking this road? Most nav systems consider a time resrtiction as "always on". Thier worst nightmare is to route you on a rad that is illegal/unsafe for you to drive on.
