the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 is pretty cool. That is what I'll be buying down the line. But it is either kit or deck first...

It allows you control of your ipod as well, bluetooth and more.

Eclipse AVN5495 or Pioneer Z1

i'm more of an Eclipse person myself

the bluetooth unit has had some sketchy reviews....

pretty much anything now-a-days can control an ipod.

AVN6600 gives you FULL control over the ipod, which I like and use every day

I installed the Pioneer AVIC-D1 in my car and the install was not that hard. It is a very good nav system, but obviously since the Z1 is newer, it must be better than mine.

I would say the Eclipse avn6600 is probably the best setup for the price. It has dual dvd drives and full iPod control. The Pioneer Z1 or the avn5495 have the huge hard drives built in which are cool but not necessary.

The D1 I have does not have a hard drive but a CD drive and a DVD drive.

i love my AVN6600 every aspect of it.

the AVN5495 and AVN7000 are substantially more accurate with Hard Drive based navigation as opposed to DVD based navigation. That is why I mentioned the 5495 because he was asking for "the best", so if by "best" he means accurate then the 5495 would be the one to go with

Just curious why you think a hard drive based navigation is more accurate than a DVD based one? What makes it "better"?

I am curious as to why you say this as well?? The main feature of the dvd's are to host the POI's. I cannot see any reason why the hard drive would be more accurate?

Johnny, the Avic-Z1 is sick. I sold 3 of them so far and people love them, like Ken said, it has a hard drive so when you put in a disc it rips it to the hard drive, no need for the cd any longer.

the hard drive navigation has been proven to be more accurate than the dvd navi. we did lots of research on it because we had a complaining old couple who basically wanted the navigation to walk you to the door. the dvd based navigation will say "you have reached your destination, your route guidance is now finished" 500ft before you actually get to where you said you wanted to go. The Hard drive navi will tell you pretty much right at the property line that you have reached your destination.

trust me, i had to do quite a few driving tests to make sure that this info was accurate.

the DVD system is done by Denon i think and the HDD system is done by Navtech....but don't quote me. I just know that they're done by two different companies
