Hey guys im about to install a new stereo system in my lexus gs400 (1998) that has the Nakamichi stereo.

i was wondering if the rear antena is powered or not ?(like an amplified antena unit)
if so what wire is the power wire for the antena?

well you can get the double-din dash converter from carson. or you could try and find it somewhere cheaper like ebay (the coloring might be off though).

im not quite sure about power antennas and all that.

AFAIK there is no power antenna. I believe the antenna wire runs inside with the rear defroster lines.

The dash kit from carson is double din so if you're going with a single din deck you'll need to something to plug up the gap underneath. There's also the American International kit which can be used for both double and single din. For single din install it comes with a pocket to cover the gap. For double din install you need to cut the middle strip of plastic away.

Search around for Nakamichi radio diagrams and you should easily be able to find all the wires you are looking for. I have a PDF file for the GS but it does not apply to the Nakamichi. In my search for radio diagrams I found several so it shouldnt be hard.

The only ones I could find (and were sent to me) were for an '01+. The 98 install was a bit different.
