Which SQ amp to get for Type-R 10" DVC 2 ohms (under $150 used if possible)
Hey hey everyone
im thinking of upgrading sub in 01 GS300 for higher SQ
my 2001 GS300 has stock dvd navigation but only got pioneer stock audio and no the mark levinson
im not too concerned with the treble and mids as they arent too bad
but bass is lacking clarity and definition
i listen to jazz, oldies, classical and such
sometimes pop, R&B and some rock
i dont want huge bass at all and dont want to blow my bass so loud that ppl outside the car can hear and be disturbed
ive researched a bit
and found someone locally selling an used alpine Type-R 10" dvc 2 ohms sub in good condition for around $90 CAD (can be haggled to be lower)
im thinking of putting it in a sealed box and put the box in the trunk in that nook just under the stock subwoofer
what i havent decided yet is what amp to get and whether to make my own box or get prefab or get it custom made
i only plan to spend $300 CAD for everything
so whats a good and cheap (big bang for the buck) amp for 2 ohms sub and around 200~300W RMS?
thanx a lot in advance

I've never actually heard one. But Infiniti makes nice stuff.
Yes, it's possible to piece together a nicer system for only a little more money. But if you don't know how to build a box and install it, you're spending money on that as well. Preconstructed boxes suck unless they are build specifically for that speaker.
I'd really like to know where he found a good speaker and a good amp for only $200. I spend at least half that on the speaker itself. And a quality 300-500 watt amp isn't $100.

Use a multimeter to test the sub. Each coil should be consistant with one another and should read about 2.2ohm (DCR, not impedence) per coil. This is only a test for the voice coil. The suspension itself can be inspected with your eye, but you wont be able to tell if the coil is misaligned or not without hooking up the sub.

just wondering if anyone has got pics of their stock sub woofer in the trunk
i need to show some guys on a car audio forum where the stock stuff are and have them help me plan out how to wire
or if any of you could help me plan things out, that would be great
thank you
it is hard to search on this forum since cant search inside a thread when there are like 40 pages to go through and it wont accept short keywords
