stock nav vs. custom! help plz!
Hey, I actually dont have a lexus, but I will get the IS350 soon. I was wondering if I should get the stock nav system or get this pioneer head unit AVH-P6800DVD with the dvd navigation add on.. the link for the head unit is here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...tailsComponent
My main question is how hard would it be to install the double din head unit in a IS 350 with the base stock system? will it fit at all? or would there be extra space? I'm trying to save money by getting a custom nav and so I can watch dvd's too . Give me any advice! Thanks

the factory nav is made by denso which makes the best navigation systems in the world. . if you hear that aftermarket is better from stereo shops that only refers to the high watt noise aftermarket stereo systems versus low watt factory stereos tuned for the models interior . the amount of noise the stereo makes has nothing to do with the quality of the navigation system so dont belive the hype that everything factory is inferior just because aftermarket stereos make more noise.than factory stereos. if you want ear deafening base then you can tap off the factory amp output signal right and left channel and hook up an auxiliary aftermarket amp and sub to get the level of bass noise you want. but dont assume that the pioneer unit made in malaysia is better than the denso factory unit made in japan or usa. plus a the factory nav unit has a 4 year warranty and the aftermarket 1 year warranty which is about as long as they will last if played everyday.

IMO, the OEM integration and the stock look >>>>> any aftermarket stuff
nav is not something to cheap out on if u want it at all
definately go for OEM IMHO
the flush look is worth a lot
even really expensive custom work cannot make it look that good

Go stock it looks better and just take your car to a qualified and certified audio shop and ask if they can do a nav hack that way you can keep oem function and have the ability to watch movies also as far as oem integration with aftermarket pieces my choice would be a JL AUDIO clean sweep it does wonders with factory headunits
