So I researched how many companies sold out.

I remember the exact year Orion bit the dust.... one name "Cobalt".
Ironic how everything has improved technology wise, but car audio has went the exact opposite direction in using it to improve quality. Anyone who is smart will pay more for a ten year old amp than a ten day old amp (with the rare given exceptions).
Personally give me a *Tubedriver* amp for my mids, some old school MB Quart mids (key word old school), some USD waveguide horns, a 24 inch Grande Thump, a VLX400 to power the 24", and all the audio control processing I can get and I will roast these kiddies at the sounds offs
I will date myself here and tell you my first amp was an old Coustic "brick" which was like an A120 or Coustic 80A or something along those lines. It was just about as wide as it was tall and solid black with a big white coustic symbol and those horrible huge side plugs.

I'm rockin two old school alpine amps in my trunk
I know you were talking mostly about amplifiers, but I'm absolutely in love with CDT. They make some phenomenal speakers for great prices I'm in love with my new setup!

Man o man....the RED amps!!! Back in '91 I wanted a set of those bad! Orion HCCAs. Never had a chance to look inside of one, but would bet that they were built like a tank. They still have quite a bit of drool factor.
How did the old school MBQs sound? I didn't catch them until '95 and hated every set. If the older version were better, that would have been cool.

Yes! that was it! I had the PQ20. It's a tank for sure. I wish current amps weren't so revolved around cosmetic because I think old school amps have the best looks. The heatshink fins look awesome, especially the ones from linear power.

Or if you strengthen the trunk lid somehow...you can possibly put some components there. Just needs a bit of thinking.
Those interconnects are going to be a spiders web if not done right.

I bought some 1/4 MDF (thin stuff) and wet it down then put a weight in the middle to dry. It has bent and formed nicely so far. I'm going to have it bend from the edge of the trunk opening towards the sub box and form a curved wall.
It'll just miss the trunk arms. Think of it as the inside of a coke can effect. Then I am going to lay down the same curved surface on the floor and bring it up to the trunk opening line above the bumper if I can make that part work.
