How the hell did you fit it? Mine is huge and I really don't feel like cutting the rear deck to fit it. Did you just take the sub out and put a box in the back?

I'm thinking I did because the sub cage doesn't even fit... oh well, decided I would just get a sealed box for the sub and take out the metal plate and leave the sub hole open.
BTW, it is a 92 SC400

Only the most basic 10" sub will fit without some cutting and with the factory mounting bracket. I have an Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1 mounted in the deck and by no means would it fit without significantly enlarging the hole. You also have to think about how much space you have to drop it in. The back window doesn't leave much space between itself and the rear deck. Mine barely squeezed through even with the seats removed, I almost thought it wouldn't fit without completely removing the rear glass. Any sub with a mounting depth more than 5 3/4" will hit the gas tank if used with the factory bracket. I had to make a custom bracket out of two layers of 3/4" MDF to make it clear with the Infinity sub. I saw in your other post you have the Kappa Perfect DVQ. That is actually the sub I had planned to use, but it's mounting depth is about 6.5" on the VQ vs. the 10.1's 6.25" mounting depth. I didn't want to take the chance of it not fitting. Like I said the 10.1 BARELY was able to drop into the deck and has to be spaced up about 1 1/2" to clear the gas tank. The VQ sub may fit, but it may require you to cut, hammer or otherwise modify some of the edge of the deck to get it to clear the huge magnet and drop in. Hope this helps a bit and good luck.

It sounds good for being only a 10" sub in free-air configuration. The problem with free air is things like rolling down the windows will change the sound. Also because of the car's uni-body construction having such a large sub attached to what is essentially the frame of the car causes nearly everything that is loose to vibrate/rattle. My headliner rattles due to the poor job the shop did reinstalling it after getting the rear window tinted and my cracked driver side window trim rattles, which is quite annoying. I put Dynamat on the entire top of the deck, but will probably also do the bottom side in the future to add some stiffness. It's rated at 175 RMS watts in free-air, roughly half it's rating if it were in a sealed box. The Infinity subs seem to lack a bit of mid-bass response even when a sealed box. Having it mounted in the deck only makes this more noticeable. It's low end response is very nice and clean. Since I'm only using one of my sub channels, I'm considering using the other channel to power some 6' mid-bass drivers that I will put in the deck to give it that little extra "punch".

The sub is mounted on two peices of 3/4" MDF. One is a ring which can be easliy seen in the picture. The other is cut to fit in the indentation for the factory sub. The two peices are glued/screwed together and bolted in place from the bottom inside the trunk. The speaker cannot be removed without getting into the trunk, for security reasons. It has a little less than 1/8" clearance from the gas tank. I'm currently working on a way to use the original speaker cover for the sub, but I kinda like looking at the sub through the rear window because it matches my paint pretty good.
