Adding just a amp/sub to a 2GS with nav doable?

So I think I am going to go with a Rockford Fosgate Team RF X5 amp. However, now I am stuck on the subwoofer, I can't decide between either a 10" Alpine Type R or a 12" JL Audio W6V2. The Type R will take 500watts rms and I can buy it for only $125 off of a friend while the W6 only takes 400watts and will cost me roughly $300.
I know that a W6, especially the W6V2 a better sub than the Alpine Type R but is it worth that extra $175? Thanks all!
