They gave me 2 reasons:

1) The pre-built JL box for the W6 is smaller than the pre-built JL box for the W3.
2) The W3 will not be that much more bass than stock (I am skeptical of this)

The price difference between the W3 and W6 is $100.

Also, I asked him if I needed a 500/1 with the W6 and he said "no, the 250/1 will be fine for what you want". So it didn't seem like he was trying to sell more expensive stuff. He was the head installer, not a salesman.

I personally would rather give a speaker more or at least just enough power then under powering it.
It might sound fine, but if you were to go with a W6 you should consider a 500/1...you won't push the W6 to its full potential.
Others might not agree but its just my opinion.

They are correct. The W6 is a better woofer = excellent! 250/1 is enough to power one of them. Just make sure they are selling you the W6V2 (version 2), and not an outdated one.
You don't need the 500/1 according to JL's chart. It will only give you 3 more db SPL at the high end anyway, and at that point you'd be greatly overdriving it compared to the rest of your stock components.

This shop is one of the best in the region, they showed me the w6v2 in the jl audio box, they had it in stock, and had just received it UPS... It was sealed from the manufacturer, the price they are offering me is $429.99. Is that a good price for the sub + box? Model is CVS110RG-W6V2

I wish JL listed MSRP on their website

That looks like a great price, they're not gouging you. Looks like it lists for $899.

yes that's a good deal on the sub and box, especially if it's the combo straight from JL. The thing that people don't realize is that if you're an authorized dealer for JL and you start just selling for cost or less to your customers to try and push more product and JL finds out....******....your card gets pulled and they say have a nice day

Ya, I've noticed most (if not all) JL dealers sell at MSRP... Maybe 10% off... I am going to stop by the shop today and pick up that W6 with JL Audio enclosure...

Ah more satisfied JL customers.
The 10w6v2 is a great efficient woofer hence not needing a tremendous amount of power to make it sound good. I just actually sold that setup with a 250/1 to a kid in a bimmer and he couldnt believe that little amp made the woofer sound that good lol.
Says something about realpower vs. earthquake or crunch power lol.
As for the price, the $429 is a good price. We sell it for the same. Every dealer goes by suggested minimum advertised or should anyways. Like supra said if u get caught selling at cost or ebaying their product they can pull the line.
I went down there for a dealer alliance trainign and got to see the compan y up close and personal and man they are a first class company.

^^^

Yeah we sent a couple of the sales guys down to FL earlier this year to check out the whole company and they had a blast. They got to make thier own woofers and stealthboxes and they learned A LOT about the company.

JL is so proud of their product that they have people searching for it on ebay to see if they can find dealers trying to sell thier product cheap. If they find a dealer who's doing so, they will purchase the product and then revoke the dealer's line.

I got tired of reading the posts but...

I have a 500/1 JL Audio amp hooked up to a 10" W6v2. Its in a pretty small enclosed box with the protective grill sold by JL. I love the damn thing and how it barely takes up any space in my trunk. This summer i helped two of my friends move into new homes and that sub barely made an impact on how much we could load up each round.

Ied say go W6v2... my friend has two 12" W3's in his jeep and he wants to swap them for one 10" W6v2 like i have...go figure.

Update: I bought the W6V2 that comes in the JL Audio box. I actually told the guy about the url above that shows the sub for $409 and so he sold it to me for $390!!! (Which comes out to $409 tax included) He didn't even check the website or anything I just told him "Ya, I saw it on a website for $409" He asked if it was ebay and I said "no, it was the company's website" and he was like ok, I'll give it to you for $409, no tax... So I bought it on the spot... Sub is sitting in my closet, right next to the 250/1.... Awaiting arrival of my IS350 hehe... Thanks for the advice/tips guys!!

I can't wait to remove/disconnect the stock sub and drop this box in the trunk!! I think it will make the ML system sound much better...
