Default ML Upgrades

I have a new IS350 w/Nav and ML. The stereo is ok, but needs help. I definitely want to add subs.

First question is, where to get the audio input from? There are 4 speakers in the rear deck. Which ones should I get an audio signal from?

Second question is, what about upgrading the balance of the stereo? Aftermarket amps? Signal processors? New speakers? I'd like to hear from others who have upgraded.

Hasn't happened yet. Though I did throw out a few ideas out there. Seems like people are "happy" enough with the ML system to not upgrade.

The parts that they use in the ML are still based on "price point". You can only get so much for it.

Upgrade the speakers first. I like Dynaudio products. In fact, they have a new ESOTEC lineup available.

What size are the speaks again?

ML tries to achieve an overall, natural sound and for the most part I think they have done an excellent job. The bass is pretty good, and is balanced with the rest of the frequency response. The problem with subs are they tend to way overemphasize what would be considered a 'normal' amount of bass. We seem to judge auto sound systems with how much bass a system puts out, which is why you hear the 'boom, boom, boom' of aftermarket systems three blocks away. It isn't natural, imo. So I think most owners of a Lexus are happy with the stock ML system.

i agree. my ML system satisfies me. i mean yeah i like the sound of a upgraded system with 2 10's and a large amp but i think mine is good enough. plus i much rather spend money on performance parts or cosmetic upgrades then a sound system.
