1400watts rms too much????
while looking for subs for my new system. i came across these polk SR104 subs. now i was looking for 2 subs for an "even" look in my trunk. but with the sub rated at 700 watts rms... would 2 subs be TOO much? do you guys think i can pull off a nice trunk setup with only one sub? pics for ur pleasure.. i found these subs to be very sexy.

it is very possible. either centered or offset with the amp next to it. nice sub choice. the rms is in no way a indicator of loudness. so even if you get 2 and put 1K watts to it it should be good.

well i would never just put 1000 watts where i can use 1400 watts. i would use it to its full potential... where that would possibly lead me to hearing loss... lol

i agree but really you know you dont "need" that much. if you can swing it (balla) then heck yeah do it but if not go with one with enough power and think the trunk layout out as much as you can. them subs are sexy... the drain on the electrical system with 1400 watts would be a little problem. you would need to engineer the whole system a little bit stronger to run that. and i mean a true 1400 watts not some boss audio 1400 watts. Class D is the way to go for a sub amp. the new rating system is very nice. you can believe it a "little" better than the old orion HCCA 225 days...

very nice amp. only 900 @ 1 ohm though. i thought you wanted more? i think it is equal to the kenwood i have IN SPECS only. i am sure it have a better signiture sound and better power supply. how much is it? i looked and found a european one for 379 pd sooo about 800+ USD? classy looking amp for sure, does it go with that sexy modern sub? i dont know. i think you need an edgey amp to flow... IMO...

well im really thinking of running one sub. 2 might just be toooo much. and add an extra 24 pounds. and i dont want my trunk to rattle. i will just have to settle with one sub..

You should be happy with one...I personally would prefer an idmax however.
Those polk signature series are pretty hot tho.
It should sound good with 900 watts regardless.

idmax would be great too.. but no one has tired these out yet. i wanna see how they sound. the price is great actually. less then idmax. well i will be buying of an unauthorized seller so its like 189. which is not too shabby for a sub like this. i hope it sounds as well as i hope.

I don't quite get these new age subs that have to have 14 inches of mounting depth and 1200 watts. Back in the day 1.5 inches of travel and 500 watts was all you needed to do all kinds of damage. I'm not understanding the trend.
That's a helluva good looking sub, I must say.

You should look at Polk's website to find the recommended power RANGE, which will give you an indication of what the woofer's band of efficiency is.
I haven't heard these Polks yet, but looks like it should be an excellent woofer.
Don't forget to consider the drain on your electrical system when you start dealing with 1000W or above.

well this is how i was goin to do my trunk with one sub. the cap and crossovers are goin to be placed on the sides of the trunk. the floor will be just the stock carpetting. i use my trunk to i dont want to have anything where the spare tire well is. and i was thinking about having a wood frame, hense the brown..
