Default is it o.k

to use an 8 guage power wire from the battery to the amp.
I realized a lot of people use 4 guage.
are there any pros and cons?

8 gauge is smaller, less power will be able to get through the wire.
If you have a amp thats gonna draw more than 500 watts, you need to use 4 gauge.

Default cool

does that mean as long as the power the amp is drawing from the battery is anot over 500watts, i can use an 8 or 10?
am a rookie in the wiring department, so forgive my lack of knowledge
anyways, i came across a 4guage kit which is going for cheap on ebay and i think i will get that since i might be changing my amp and sub later on.
