If I purchase an aftermarket CD player and connect it directly into only one of the four slots that went into the stock radio, will everything be working just fine? Or is it normal to have no sound at all?

This is on an SC400 with no upgrades to the sound system at all. It is a pioneer system.

heh, you will need a custom wiring harness, or to hardwire your new deck into the existing harness...

no aftermarket unit will just plug in, and you will need a combination of all 4 harnesses to make it work...
