Default Aftermarket Nav?

Has anyone installed a aftermarket nav system and if yes, how does it work?

Hi Ray, welcome to our forum.

I invite you to try the search tool to look for 'aftermarket navigation' in the 2GS forum. There are lots of threads with the same topic... instant answers and pictures, no waiting.

I have an Eclipse unit in mine.

Not trying to steal the thread, but I was just trying to do the search on it yesterday, as I'm looking to buy one for myself. However, all the threads about aftermarket NAV mention only those that get integrated with the stock system/speakers and are installed inside the dashboard. I couldn't find any useful info on those stand-alone units that go on the top of your panel. Which brands/models are descent?

I have an AVIC-D2 Pioneer Nav/ headunit, I love it, I have a nav in my SC430 and LS430 stock from Lexus, and this aftermarket GPS blows the stock GPS system equipped in my other two vehicles away.

You mean like the Magellan and Tom Tom Go?

Try searching for 'garmin' 'Magellan' and you'll find lots of threads... there is a recent one in either the clubhouse or car chat.

Eclipse is the way to go (since the OEM the Factory nav's for Lexus anyway). Easy install and great look.

Dave, your Eclipse system, did you use the factory wiring. amp, and sub? Or did you splurge and redo the whole thing?

I want to go with the eclipse system also, just not sure how far I wish to go with it.

Thanks.
