Default best aftermarket alarm opinions? (under $300)

so what's the general concensous on aftermarket alarms? who's "the best" anymore?

our 97 es300's stock keyless entry/alarm thing is dead, and the dealer wants an outragous $137.50 for the key fob, $50 for installation, plus taxe$.

obviously, not worth it for me.

so who's making the best alarms out there? why are they the best? and i guess we should probably put a qualification in there... so how about the best alarm under $300 bucks?

i'm sure there are alarms that cost close to a grand that will turn on the dishwasher in my house... but this is a 10 year old car... we don't need that

I had a Crimestopper CS2000something (it's the latest version) installed, and have had no problems... it's a paging unit that works pretty well, I can walk a good 500-1000' away before it no longer works, slightly shorter if in a building...

I think I paid $250ish installed for it, which included a tilt (anti-tow and anti-lift) and glass break sensor...
