and no, im not misunderstanding you.

the Nominal Impedance is what the amplifier needs to see.

his amp needs to see 4 ohm in a mono configuration (right positive, left negative) in order to put out its full power.

with two dual 4 ohm speakers, wired in series/parallel, or parallel/series, this is EXACTLY what he gets.

Wouldn't it be easer to just test the final impedance at the amp's speaker terminals with a digital multi-meter?

Not a probably at all, I like to be challenged and seek answers from more than one prospective. Thanks for taking the time to make those MS paint drawings too!

gapxguy, your amp is not 1 ohm stable, you will blow it up if you hook it up like pic one.
i have a 500a2 and it has been hooked up like pic 2 for six to seven years,
i have not had any problems with it. 4ohms out speakers, 2ohms when bridged
88supramki was trying to tell you the same thing.

Fonz, I recently changed my wiring from the first picture I posted (16 ohms ) to option 2 picture you posted above (4 ohms).

It looks like RF configured their 500a2 to rate @ 4 ohms when bridged in MONO. Therefore, it's gonna be 4 ohms from the amp and 4 ohms from the combined subs, am I right? Is this the match we're looking for?
