Manual switch for folding side mirrors?
The LS430 has folding side mirrors that are extended by ignition or accessory ON. I have the Electrical Wiring Diagram (EWD) for 2001 model and it states:
When the ignition SW is turned to OFF from ACC or ON, the signal is communicated to the door ECU, and mirror motor is controlled to fold the mirror. When the ignition SW is turned to ON or ACC from OFF, the signal is communicated and the mirror motor is controlled to unfold the mirror.
I'd like to be able fold these mirrors manually with a switch or automatically (based on external sensor to the car). In order to assure clearing into tight places (like narrow garage door openings). To do this I'd probably have to "trick" the door ECU into thinking the car was OFF.
Any suggestions on how to trick the door ECU?

Well in our LS430 Ultra Luxury. There is a switch on the left hand side at the level of the turn signal switch on the steering wheel. It should be there, there is an option, automatic or you can turn it off or you can fold them in.

Thanks for the answer GSNAV. Goes to show what I don't know when I don't own the car... yet. The lesson learned for me here is the EWD can be difficult to read and fully understand without the car!
The EWD is a valuable tool and will help me integrate Pioneer Visual Audio components into my future Mark Levinson/Navi LS430. Here I'll have a 6 disc DVD changer, 12 disc CD changer, XM satellite radio and in-dash 7" motorized display (mounted where ML system 6 disc changer is currently). Even when the monitor is folded down, the system will be able to operate and display on the factory Navi screen.
