Cool Bridging outputs

Can you bridge the left & right outputs, or the front & rear outputs on a headunit?

Do you mean the speaker wires or the RCAs? For speaker wires no cause the internal amp in the headunit cannot handle the ohm load and will burn up.

There are only a rare few headunits that can do it. One of them was a special Alpine unit in '99. I believe an Eclipse from that era did it also.

The easy answer is no.

x2

even if you can bridge it, the deck wont put out the power you're going to expect. Better off running an external amplifier if you want more juice.

Cool

I got it to work... Sorta...
Set the amp to mono & crossed the channels. Had alot more low end, but by the time you get half way up the head unit power there was an ungodly amount of distortion from the HU on bass hits.
Ran it all day today, which was a 110mile communte.

Just got finished setting it back too... No point in roasting a spare set of Polk's on a spare CDX-M690 HU in the Civic.

Sounds like *** not having the rms power tho...
