Hooking up amp = spark
I got this aftermarket 2400W amp from previous car owner installed in my GS, but I never used it, the positive wire is disconnected from battery. Today I tried to hook it up to my new sub, and connect the amp to battery, a big spark followed. Its pretty scary, so I immediately disconnect the amp from battery.
I am not sure if the wiring is done correctly... is the spark normal? should I talk to a professional installer?
TIA.

Did you take out the negative terminal of the battery before taking out the positive?
To disconnect the battery, take out the negative first, then the positive.

You're getting a huge spark because it's arcing. It's highly recommended that you take out the negative terminal when you do any electronic work on your car.

well its one of those Almani Mono Channel Amp. I dont know much about car audio. But on top of the amp its written 2450W, which I think is the max power.

Almani was all you had to say....it's no where near 2400watts. Unless your car gets hit by lightning and your voltage spikes well above 14 volts. It states that it's 1000 @ 1ohm on the website
REGARDLESS......don't worry about the spark. it happens when you connect the battery. it'll happen even if you don't have an amp hooked up.
