Thanks a lot for all the info, I bought a Viper 791XV and know a guy in Austin who can install it, but I was concerned with rigging something that didnt belong. Wanna do everything, everything right the first time (practically impossible with this budget and imagination) so I didnt have to fix anything down the road. I will definitely reconsider selling the alarm, now that I know a dedicated member already has it and is happy with it. Thanks all.

I was contemplating getting one for my mazda (5speed). After hearing those stories, i think i'm going to stay away.
I don't leave my car in gear. I left it at the mechanic's last week, and he left it in gear so when he was helping me jump start the car i ran over his foot by accident Felt like such a newb for not paying attention to the shifter. Switching back and forth between auto and manual, i could see myself not paying attention if i lent the car to a friend who leaves it in gear.

There is no reason to shy away from it..just make sure the shifter is grounded. I remember the first time my car took off down the street..i let my lil brother use it(i just taught him how to drive a stick) i was about 21 he was 15/16...i woke up to go to work at circuitcity(Calumet City, IL.. ) of all places..as i was pushing the button..b4 the lights even came on..i was like dayum!!! i bet he left it in gear!!! just to see it jerk as its going down the street...i can laugh now at it..but i almost ished my pants running in -10 weather in my boxer and socks down the street.. ..THAT was the day i make the grounded shifter for it!!!

it only happend once or twice. the car will only travel like at 1 or .5 mph. i would still do it all over again. the rear wheel drive cars have nothing to worry about, they won't go nowhere. it's only the front wheel drive cars that will move and like i said it's a very low speed.
