Default Guys please help me make up my mind! Need radio advice...

1100.00 budget. Double din. I would like a screen as close as possible to 7" wide. Plays DVD's. Nav can either be internal or external (sold seperately). Ipod control is a must (but I think everyone has that). Dont really give 2 *****s about an internal hard drive unless someone sells me on it. Once I can control my Ipod, I'm good to go. What else do I need? Is the competition that stiff that I can basically close my eyes and pick anyone? Somebody has to have a unit that blows everyone else's away? Sound quality is more important than video quality, but who doesn't want both...

Panasonic or Alpine would be my choices. OR wait for some of the new Kenwood stuff to come out, their new stuff is pretty badass.

For your budget your best bet is the new Pioneer Avic-D3. It costs $1000 and has most of the features you want. The only thing is the screen is like 6.1" or so. Go to crutchfield's website they have some good info.

You could also try the Eclipse AVN5435 ($1150) or the newer AVN5500 ($1200). The newest AVN5510 ($1400) has a 7" screen if that's important to you.

Thanks for the few replies so far, but can someone possibly tell me how you can beat the Clarion MAX675VD? It is 630.00 off of eBay all day including shipping. The NAV is optional, but I don't mind because I can purchase that at a later date. You can play video from your iPod as well as audio! Am I missing something here? Why is this unit so affordablde? 7" screen... The only thing I see close to that unit is the DDX-6019 from Kenwood, but it can't play video from the iPod... It can be had for the same price... heeeelp me!

Someone, please tell me 1 unit that can measure up to this one at around the same price???

Default I made my mind up...

I just went ahead and picked up the Clarion. It was basically 700.00 including the iPod adapter (with video) out the door. Guy threw in a free Clarion coffee mug as well... Thanks for all those before me who did the stereo installs in a 2GS, it definitely made the install much easier - instead of having to guess and probe wires, I knew exactly where to go for everything. I still have to do a video bypass/override. I'll probably wire that up today... So far I am pleased with the unit. If anyone has any questions regarding the unit, let me know. The 7" screen, the price, and probably the best iPod interface is why I chose the Clarion. Navigation is another 600.00 will probably do that in a few weeks...

Not sure if I am going to paint the OEM kit yet... I may paint it silver to match the climate controls, I may buy another set of climate controls and paint the kit and the climate controls gloss black or silver. Who knows... I may just keep it as it...
