Default whcih would you choose?

spring is almost here and my sub install is he last part of my mod on ICE.i have searched for months on end for the JL 10ib4 (used or new) at a decent price but could not even find it anywhere for even a ridiculous price.
i finally found the infamous JL 10IB4 for 200Canadian shipped on wooferetc.com(and i know i will still be charged import taxes when delivered in canada. about 30-40 bucks)
and they also have the kicker comp c10 for 93 shipped.
i know a few people have the kicker on CL
i don't want to spend a lot on subs (230 is alot for me on a sub)but i don't know if i will be missing a lot by not sacrificing an extra 100 or more bucks to get the JL.(you know that feeling you get when you think you could have done better by iving up more
For thoes who have used both or either, what do you suggest?
i am not looking for crazy bass but nice smooth clean tight bass at a cheap price.
do yo think the kicker is alright for this?
please advice.
so JL 10Ib4 for about 230 approximately
OR
kicker comp c10 for about 120 approximately.

i'd go with JL over alpine any day of the week...

i've listened to a 12" MB quartz composite cone woofer play in my brother's old jetta... god damn that thing pounded like a crazy ****... it was glassed into the spare tire well, and reinforced with more MDF... box and sub weigh'd 75lbs... sealed...

blew the tail lights out, then the back window broke... and only 500w powering it...

If you're looking for clean tight bass, you will never get that with a Free air sub. Sealed is the way to go.

whatever speaker you go with, in my opinion they will almost be the same because they are free air. i would save my money and go with the cheaper one. i love jl and i would choose jl if it was going in a box.

Find some Image Dynamics products. Every one of their sub's will be fine for free air.

JL products are good, but I personnaly thing they are over priced.

The T/S parameters on the TC 7 make it a perfect candidate for an IB install.

Infinite baffle or "free air" installs behave exactly as a large, sealed box. The only difference is that the enclosure is so large, it has not effect on the sound of the sub. I explain it in more detail in this thread.

the only other good speakers i had were old school punches about 10 years ago and everything in between has been junk.
