I was just wondering how this would go ?
I want to cut-off the CD changer completely and go MP3 only
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...agram-aux.html

no. most lexus headunits will not switch to the CD Input without there being an active data signal from the Changer. That's why the the "TX" lines get left alone.

So the best way would to get it to wo work would be to order 4 relays and just connect them to the terminals and just not connect a switch ( wont be using cd changer , it is fully functional though)

You don't need relays unless you're gonna switch between the changer and aux.

" you can tap into the 4 audio (cd) wires from the disc changer then push CD and its not gonna recognize a disc but the audio should come through.
I have no dics in my cd changer and it plays crystal clear....."

So, if tap the wires, solder then heat-shrink tube it, and place a blank disc inside and switch it to CD , it will play the signal from the RCA cables ?

Thanks PureDrifter. That makes sense. I think you answered my question with the "tx" lines. So you still need the "tx" data signal. I read in other threads that state that you must put a blank (or upside down) cd in cd players. Now I see why.

I just completed this mod and it works perfectly. Thank you very much PureDrifter.

I ended up connecting a 3.5mm input instead of RCA inputs and located the switch and 3.5mm input inside my console. The relays are located under my console and I connected in behind the head unit instead of the CD Changer. I have a 98 GS400 w/ NAK.

Here is a pic of my install inside the lower portion of the center console:

Thanks again PD!

just a quick heads up for those that don't know, but http://www.gromaudio.com/ has plug and play solutions for this that are decently priced and allow control through the OEM radio in most situations even... there is aux input, ipod input and even usb stick input available for most cars...

mine works awesome on my IS300...

The Grom solution is not available for the 98-00 GS or any Lexus prior to 99.

true, but for those that they are an option for, it is much better than hacking them like what is being done here, although for those it isn't an option, I get it completely!

I agree that Grom is a great option if your year and model are supported, but PD's solution is the best I have seen for years and models not supported by aftermarket solutions.

this. For any vehicles covered by Grom or VaisTech those are obviously better options. I actually picked up a Grom unit a while back for the IS300.

however for anything not covered, this is the fastest+easiest+cheapest way to quality sound

Nice install AZGS4
