installing JL w6s

As an IDMAX 12 owner I feel the need to chime in here.
Boy am I glad MJHSC400 threw some technical stuff at us, because it looked like this thread was going to go off into an ugly tangent. It has actually become one of the more entertaining threads.
I meter out at about 130-132 dBSPL with a JL 500/1 driving. Maybe with a 1000/1 I get another 3dB and hit the 135 that you analyzed?
I just have 1 question: (since this thread is already jacked anyway)
How come nobody talks about these Critical Mass subs with the Neo magnet? I heard them at CES, sounded OK. I know they're expensive, but so is some of the other stuff being discussed....Any opinions?

We're getting into diminishing returns. If the rest of the system isn't up to the quality of these subs, then why buy them. Also, a car is a very imperfect audio environment. If I'm going to use high quality drivers like these, I'm going to pair them with some high quality home speakers (Eggleston is my favorite ultra high end company) that cost more than my house.

Nah... this thread has not lost is meaning, not at all.
Has long has we are all throwing subwoofers into the the ring.. Hands down RE XXX before they where bought out by US Amps where the best in BOTH SQ and SPL.

For those that are into $900 subs sure thing-- But two of the 38mm xmax subs should out pound it -- and cost a few hundred less-- greater cone area and combined stroke displacement--
Those 50mm xmax subs are handy though when you only have space for x amt. of subs and you're runnin in the competition lanes -- that's for sure--
When it really comes down to it-- just from knowing how loud a single Perfect 12.1 is with 500 watts and knowing it only has a 14mm xmax-- I'm just wondering if going past this point falls into the question of "how much is too much?" --
My single perfect does just fine keeping up and blending with my mids/hi's up to ear piercing levels-- when played with a flat response curve-- and even when it's bass heavy the perfect doesn't run out of usable xsus--
I guess I still want a TC-2000 just because it's like a perfect with TWICE the cone travel-- and twice the power handling-- so it'll be a good match for my amp-- This logic is really useless though-- as what I have is more than enough for non-competition use- or for sq comp. --
Just a thought-- Anything over 400 rwtq and you just smoke the tires--

You bought a fine set of subs you'll no doubt enjoy--
I like JL subs because they hold up for a very long time-- which is a huge plus with this kind of money spent--
I had 3 10w6's that would absolutely pound while being extremely clean-- probably the stiffest cone made at the time--
