Default Nakamichi blowing fuse under hood electrical short

this is a 92 sc400 i have narrowed the problem down to the white plug under the radio on the righ hand side,..with 7 wires leads. I tried to load the pic but it was too big? anyway nothing is wet I have unplugged , amp , antenna, orange connector under back seat on driver side.. still blowing fuses under the hood... everytime i plug this connector in seconds later the fuse blows.

whats next

Default

I had the same thing happen to me. Different plug, but effect. Opened up the amp and I couldn't really see anything. My only solution was to get a replacement amp.

checked the batt and its around 11.03 volts so i think i am good there

i checked the ground I could see and all seem tight??if it was the amp...would it still blow fuses with the amp unhooked>?

Default unplugged everything but tail lights

ok i have pulled the rear seat out and unplugged both orange and white plugs that have approx 20 wires each running to them

everything in the trunk but tail lights unplugged and still blowing fuses

I also took the fuse out of the fuse block in the drivers side kick panel ,, still blowing fuses when i plug that plug up under the right side of the radio"the one in the pic above"

Does anybody have an idea what these seven wires go to? I want to eliminate them one by one but a schematic would be gold right now

I dont wanna have to carry this to a shop but its coming to an end..my resources have failed

Default well i figured it out!! 3 plugs in the amp

I guess I should have pulled the amp completly out!!

didnt know it had two additional plugs near the fender.. anyway I took the amp completly out,,,walla not blowing the fuse under the hood........

so now, can i replace the factory amp with a aftermarket..any wiring harness out there so I dont have to splice and dice ..

Thanks.

Default junkyard salvage yard amplifier no good

ok ok this is driving me nutzzzm
the factory amp I paid $100.00 for works but the signal is very weak and very very distorted.. the guy said i could take it back b/c he had no way of testing it..but i need to hook up my alpine aftermarket..its killin me

i drove all over middle TN looking for a line driver so i could install a aftermarket amp in the car with the factory Head unit and nobody has it .. furthermore, I most places said "oh i HAVE nO IDEA what your talkng about"

anyway I guess the next best thing to do is locate a phoenix gold dealer and locate the SLD44 line driver ,, any other suggestion?

thanks

ok i have researched and researched,,it appears there is no easy fix other than replacing the factory amp with factory amp..

but i would rather use aftermarket amp and keep my headunit..somebody has an idea?? what about this line driver deal?

and does anybody have a sugg on a new headunit thats not 500.00 and still has good quality?

Default

I've got two (one 4ch and one mono for the sub) aftermarket amps on my Nak system in my SC4. I simply cut the factory amp harness and wired it to the amps as needed. Unless you have some mobile electronics experience, I would just take the wiring diagram to a shop that can do a custom install. It is not nearly as complicated as some would think. The signal coming from the Nak head unit is a low level outpout so all I did was add some RCA plugs to the existing wires and plug them into the amp for the signal in.

Here is a link to a few radio diagrams that I used..... http://www.lextreme.com/misc.html

There is another flash diagram out there that was very helpful with adding an AUX in to the factory Nak unit.
