Default Need info?

When installing an aftermarket dvd/nav unit, what components of the stock unit would I lose?

hey wringo,
i believe you cannot use the stock amp with any new nav/dvd a/market unit because the stock amp is too far intergrated into the stock set-up.
i know it is possible but a lot of wiring/ rewiring would be involved.
when i installed mine, i took out the stock amp and headunit and used my eclipse with the stock speakers and sub.
now i switched out the stock speakers for some infinity references(front and rear ) and got 2 Kicker c10s. i plan on installing one kicker c10 in the stock sub location in a free-air application and if it does not sound too good, i will put both kickerc10s in a box in trunk.
hope that answered your question.
IMHO, the stock speakers with an aftermarket unit and aftermarket amp are not bad. But you would get better from newer speakers.
good luck

You should be able to run your stock amps with an aftermarket head unit-- it will just take a little bit of wiring know-how to make it work--

Tapping the rca's from the new head unit into the low level signals to the factory amp isn't that tough-- And of course you'd use the remote wire also--

You may need to provide your amp with a new power wire, but it's possible you can keep it on the existing power and ground-- Just not sure how it's set up--
