I've got 5.25" up in the front. I'm not sure I have the expertise to build a ported enclosure in my door. I can do sealed, but I had them seald before, and everyone told me that they should be left free-air, not sealed. I want to upgrade to larger speakers upfront anyways. It would be easiest to go with something that will work best free-air.

Also, I'm not sure how easy .3 ft^3 to build is. That whole giant fiberglass enclosure I built was only double that at .66 ft ^3.

Well-- The factory enclosure should be close-- The SC Pioneer door enclosures are--

The mid I posted is designed to work in a ported/sealed enclosure, so a 6.5 for freeair would be fine, but mids for sealed/ported will generally produce more output--

Precisely the reason this type of design was installed in the first place-- the cost of drivers is much less as well- And there's no need to deaden the doors with the enclosure--

http://www.zalytron.com/

These guys are selling backstock Focal component sets for $140 -- Just thought I'd pass the word on--

Just click the car audio link from the main page--

The Focal 5" mid will work in a 23 liter ported enclosure with an F3 of 39hz -- unreal performance--

I wonder how close that is to the SC's factory door enclosures-- must be really close--

These mids play all the way up to 4khz too--

For those that don't know, this performance is well beyond MOST freeair 6.5 drivers in high and low frequency performance--

It's rare to see a car audio driver made to work in a sealed or ported enclosure-- I'm thinking this would yield incredible results with 100w per channel, but even 50w would absolutely rock--

Somebody needs to grab a set and try this, I would given the funds---
