Olddog,
I am in the same boat as you. I did loads of research and it seems like the Xtant X603 old school amp is as good as it got.
Remember these amps are rated pwr at 12V. My alternator puts out 15.20 consistently. Even without a cap, the gains will be much more will the car running.
Front 75x2, Rear approx. 50x2, Sub 150W at 4 ohms.
Double that sub rating for 2 ohms.
Will also accept direct speaker leads and convert them to 17V as RCA inputs!!
One amp, One solution, clean. Highly tunable, Fantastic sound.
I just purchased my yesterday.

Olddog,
eBay and car audio forums are your best bet. I didn't know there were so many audio forums, until I started searching for this amp.
Just join a couple and put up a WTB ad.
These amps are snatched up fast b/c of the clean chrome appearance and they are known as "cheater" amps b/c they are severely underrated. This allows a person to enter a competition at a lower Watt class and blow everyone away with a standard amp.
I have someone contacting me about a Xtant 3300x, just as flexible, but little less power to the front 60x2.
You wont find anyone talking negatively about these Xtant amps at all. Some of the best reviews under McIntosh setups.
The worst you will hear is best SQ amp, but I want more power to my sub. This is for the bass-boomers or SPL competitors.
When he contacts me on Monday, I will send you to him.
I had to chase people down in forums from posts that were over a year old to get one without the eBay chaos.

Nice find for real
It totally makes sense to make an amp like this-- Nobody else has done it to my knowledge--
I still don't have anything against an 85x4 + 350/750x1 (ED 9.5 @ $450)

I was in the same boat not too long ago looking for a 5 channel amp as well. I first went with a JL e6450. Sounded great but the 150w on the sub channel just wasn't pushing enough bass to get through the well insulated trunk.
I've always been a JL fan so I sold it and got the 500/5. I was a bit skeptical at first at the tiny 25w x 2 on the rear but after installing everything I was very happy with the results. The 150w x 2 for the front is a totally overkill for even many mid-grade components. Turned up it really gives my focals a good workout. The 25w on the rear gives just the right amount of rear fill without killing my front stage.
With 250w going to a 10" JL W6v1 it brings plenty of bass fill. The only thing I can think of to improve the whole system is a good quality EQ to help tune everything out.
As others have mentioned you can't go wrong with xtant or the old school mtx's. The kicker will certainly get the job done but I'm not too big on the design. I like the clean simple look so the kickers are just way too aggresive looking to me.
