My radio just quit working on me. Everything still lights up on the radio, but no music. Same goes for the cd player. No noise. Does this mean that the factory amp is toast?
Also, if I replace my stock head unit with an aftermarket one, will I need to get an aftermarket amp as well? Sorry for the newb question, but I'm not an electrical guru.
Thanks in advance.
If it helps, my car is a 1994 Lexus SC300. OEM Pioneer deck, not the Nakamichi unit.

SC_DRIFTER, It could be blown speakers. Test your rear speakers with working speakers, if you hear sound you have blown speakers. I replaced my rear speakers about a month ago. Here are steps (post #93) needed to replace the rear speakers. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...=109384&page=7
Inorder to test the rear speakers you will have to take the trunk lining off...Rear right fender and the trunk wall to gain access to the +/- wire connection of the rear speaker. I bought cheap 4ohm speakers at Wal-mart for testing and returned after use.

The only thing that's making me think that they arn't the speakers is b/c while driving today the radio started working. Although, everytime the bass would hit, the radio would "fade" out and then come back. I turned down the bass on my EQ and it worked alright.
So I hoped back in my car after work and the radio turned right on. About 1 mile down the road the radio stopped playing music, cold turkey. And it didn't turn back on the rest of the drive home (45 min).
I'll try to test the speakers this weekend, but I don't believe that that's the case. Thanks though.
