Default Bazooka tube for IS350 (non ML)

Want to add some more bass. I was thinking of a bazooka tube, but not sure if I should go with a 10" amplified or non amplified. suggestions/comments please. Also if any of you have installed a tube, please post some pics.

If you go with the non-amplified model, you will have to provide your own amp. If you want real bass, then don't go with Bazooka. They are not even middle of the road in either sound quality or output.

get a small amplifier with a modest woofer in a standard box if you want to add some bass.

bazooka is trash, and tubes have always sounded like dirt.

something small--

Naahh-- a TC-1000 10" will work in a very small enclosure-- It wouldn't be hard to tuck that .4 ft^3 into a corner-molded fiberglass enclosure that would be totally stealth with good output per dollar-- just be sure to provide it with adequate power--

What's TC for? Totally Copied?

They either come out of the same factory (maybe now that Eclipse has 'upgraded' their line...) OR they're the el-cheapo Chinese copies.

They build Eclipse's drivers--

As well as drivers that dwarf even the W7 --

Made in the US--

Man are they far from cheap--

LMS-5400 38mm LINEAR xmax (one way) -- Got $900 for a sub??

no offense but i feel like i'm reading a post by Christopher Walken or William Shatner whenever you put those "--" after every line.

i'll keep my W7 cause it cost far less than $900

I'll chime in here since I don't think TC Sounds was ever mentioned on this forum until I showed up a few months ago. Read up a little bit on the history and technology behind these subs. TC Sounds' main focus is being an OEM build house for subs. They have built subs for Eclipse for years. Other clients of TC include Aerial Acoustics (the $5,000 SW-12), Krell (the $14,000 Master Reference Subwoofer, Rythmik Audio and Soundsplinter. Former clients include Rockford Fosgate/Lightning Audio, SVS, Stryke Audio/Acoustic Elegance, Elemental Designs, O Audio and Orion.

Besides an impress list of current and former clients, TC Sounds has a very impressive list of current and former engineers. Thilo Stompler (owner), Stephen Ponte (current engineer for SVS) and Deon Bearden (formerly of Klipsch and the "Bass List" fame. Responsible for most of the information at diysubwoofers.org. Helped TC transition to selling direct to the public.)

Check out what others have to say about them. Yes, the car audio forums can be a little tough to read with the kids typing in text message shorthand but there are some sensible people posting reviews as well. The home audio forums are where the critical listeners hang out. The DIY sections at both AVS Forum and HT Guide have dozens of successful projects.

Finally, I practice what I preach. I'm currently running a pair of TC-3000's with 1,200w each in my home theater. In the picture below, One is one mounted in my test enclosure where's I'm comparing ported response to sealed response. (Yes, that's a towel I use as a port plug.) That's also a TC2+ (predecessor to the TC-1000) in the box supporting the amp and center channel. If you were expecting on in my car you will have to wait. My wife is wanting to upgrade the factory sub in the ES-350 but wants some of the "new" to wear off before I tear into the rear deck.

Bro-- aren't W7's about $750 or so??

you'll need two of whatever you have on your w7 to run that 5400 -- or 4 of them if you really want to see it's potential--

They're in another league-- that was my purpose of posting it--

As for the w7 the TC3000 can handle it's duties with ease-- AND-- They're about $300 each if I remember correctly--

I have 2 el non powered bazooka from since 97, and they work great for me, but I would like to try a bandpass box to see if I am missing anything. the bazooka is great if you want to save space and its also very light compare to a box. I am amaze with the amount of bass I get from two of them when the trunk is open.

well considering what i pay for stuff i'll stick with what i've got

it pays to work in the industry, and the tens are $599 retail just for future reference

you can go on all day about how great certain speakers are better than what not...in the end it truly comes down to the end consumer and what they want, and what they will pay for.

If you sell JL-- you'd better have it in your car--

no foul there--

I'd love to have (the money for) an all JL install-- Too bad they don't make head units too--
