Default 2 channel amps running doors and rear (please explain)

I know the best bet is to run a 4 channel for all 4 speakers but the thing is that most 4 channel amps just do not push out as much power as i would like at 4 ohms. And I know dropping it down to 2 ohms loses fading (which doesnt bother me because I will adjust that with the gains). My question is this, what is the disadvantages (besides losing fading) of using a 2 channel amp. I mean you kinda find some pretty powerful 2 channel amps that put out well over what any 4 channel would do. Also if you already have a 2 channel amp and you have no fading at 4 ohms, I would assume you might as well just run it at 2 ohms to double on up power since you already do not have fading. i just seems to me like i good way to get a lot more power if you do not care too much about fade control. Is there any other reason I would NOT want to do this?
