Default stock hu and aftermarket amp help

hey you guys...i've been lurking here for a while and i need help in deciding if i should do the amp install myself or should i just cough up the money and get it done at the shop. i really want to save money but i really still dont understand how to properly install an aftermarket amp to the stock hu even after all the search i've done. help please.

If you can figure out how to connect audio and video from a dvd player to a tv and receiver, then plug it all into the wall, you can prob. handle it....

I'll agree that wiring an amp is pretty straightforward. The real work is in removing all trim panels to route cables, access your head unit, etc. If you don't feel comfortable in carefully (but often forcefully) pulling on panels, undoing clips and electrical connectors, removing insulating materials and dealing with whatever unseen objects lie behind the panels, and then putting it all back together correctly, then I wouldn't recommend you do it yourself. Take it to a reputable installer, not just the cheapest, and ask beforehand if they're familiar with your model. Watch while they do the install if they'll let you, so you'll know what to do next time.
