Default No Disk Detected

"No Disk Detected" for Nav. Did the usual clean the disk and blew air can in player and to no avail still error message. Does anyone have a solution? Priced on Ebay and elsewhere for new unit 650 to repair to 850 for new. Looks like my (but hope not to) buy a Garmin. Would like to keep orig. though. Use the Nav for work and love it

Was it working previously?

Another stupid question, is the 'door' closed on the nav unit disk tray?

Yup,

Even bought a disk cleaner and re-inserted a few times. Read somewhere else to maybe disconnect battery cable? When I re-insert disk I put my ear to player and can hear it spin for about 15 seconds and then the error message appears....

Ok, so lets go back to the beginning.

The Nav was working fine and then the 'No Disk Detected' message came on while there was a disk inside? What caused or when did you notice the error message?

Did you upgrade the disk at any point?

Ok, at least you can diagnose the culprit pretty easy. You need to find someone with the EXACT same version of the disk you have and see if the unit will read the disk. Make sure it's not an upgraded version because once the operating system is upgraded you can't go back to the previous version.

Once you find the problem then you can see where your alternatives lie.

I just fixed my dad's RX300 NAV unit with the same error... painstakingly took it apart and replaced a small motor that had burned out. Its good as new now! So these units are fixable cheap... PM me for more details.
