Default 92 ES300 HU question...

Kind of a stupid question (that I'm sure has been asked before, but no search feature on the forum), but do double DIN HU's fit into ES300's without having to modify the dash? Just wanted to know what I was getting into before I bought a HU. Also, what size speakers are there in the front doors (look like 4's, but I'm crossing my fingers hoping that they're bigger)? Do you have to take the doors off to get to the speakers, or can you just pop a panel off? How's the mounting depth behind the speakers? I obviously just got the car and don't know much about it. Thanks in advance.

all head units for an ES will require some sort of custom work...no double din will fit the gap perfectly, i got a single din hu and a 1/4 din EQ and filled the rest with smoked plexi (pic below this). As for the speakers, i really can't remember (i have the worst memory in the world), but i believe the front doors were 5 1/4, the mids on the dash were 3's and the tweets were 1". Rears are 6X9's. The door can fit anywhere from a 4" to a 6" woofer with modification if you'd like. I put 5 1/4 in, sounds nice, but a 6 will give you better midbass. I always like seeing what people do to their ES's, lemme know what you come up with.

Damn, I had a feeling that double DIN's wouldn't fit. Do you know if the HU's are bigger or smaller than the space? That's a very nice job you've done with your own, but I honestly don't like the look of the unused space (which surprises myself, as I usually don't care about cosmetics when it comes to audio). I hope that I can fit a 6.5" without much modification, because I'll need as much midbass as possible to keep up with a pair of CD1Pro horns, so I might have to go with kicks. Thanks for the help, though.
