Default Aftermarket alarm needs fuse after my GS lost its ***

hey guys, my car was parked on the street in front of my house, minding its own business when an idiot made a right turn too wide, sideswiped another car, and over-corrected to plow himself into my car and take out the rear end completely. its a beautiful sight to see the rear end crumpled and my lowenhart bent 40 degrees over the curb. the other cheapie cars just drove away and i needed all my suspension reworked. nice...life is fair.

long story short, its mostly fixed except for the aftermarket DEI/viper alarm that doesn't function at all. the body-shop(punk mofukers) said its just missing a fuse or something, but i've no idea where that might go.

sorry, i don't understand these sorts of electricals at all, and don't know if the fuse goes into a fuse box, let alone which spot, or if this hidden alarm has a fuse on itself(yes, i can't find the damn thing under my dash). excuse the ignorance, but can someone help a limping brother out?

if local, i got cash for your time too

The fuses should be under the dash on the drivers side. They use a cheap white fuse holder so it should be easy to spot. You will most likely have to pull the panel to find them.

thanks for your reply. i've poked around all under there and didn't notice anything missing, but is that all there is to resolving this? find the open fuse and plug it in? seemed like something they could've done instead of taping it to my windshield, ya know?

If everything looks in order under the dash than pull the negative battery terminal for a min to reset the alarm. Never hurts to double check or have a new set of eyes look for it. If that doesnt work than a shop sounds like your best bet.

The fuse for the aftermerket alarm should be about 6 or so inches from the alarm brain. Find our where your alarm brain is located and you should find its fuse holder on the main power harnerss very near by. Good installers are good about hiding the alarm brain and making it difficult for a thief to reach. Most standard shops just put it under the drivers side dash, but everyone knows this and that is the first place people look for the brain.

By the way, is the body shop screwing you over? You sound kind of bitter toward them

i've took out the battery recently, so that wouldn't be it.

thanks for the hint on the brain itself, as i've got all under my dash and took out the cover and still no dice. i'm going to get the car worked on at dynamic this week so hopefully they'll be able to resolve it before i end up paying $100 for a fix at some freaking sound shop, since my original installers are out-of-state.

yeah, the body shop's towing probably scraped my front bumper and broke off about a 3x2" chunk of paint. of course, someone picked up the car for me and didn't see it at 7pm and the shop stopped liability there. under the skirts is all blue scratches from something new. and of course, the kicker is that they "discarded" 3 lowenharts + new michelin a/s's after i tried to pick them up multiple times.

small claims court, i think
