What is the difference between a JL Audio 12W3v2-D4 and a 12W3v3-4. Which driver is stronger and hits harder.

Thanks in advance.

The first one is a dual voice coil model, the second one has a single voice coil. If wired properly, the dual voice coil model could be driven by an amp at a 2 ohm load.

AS performance and sound wise, which of the two is better? Will be using only 1 sub push by a 500/1 amp.

The first model you listed is the older model dual 4ohm voice coil. The second one is lastest model single 4ohm voice coil. I'm assuming you're using the JL 500/1 amp? If so, I think either sub will be fine because the JL amp outputs the same amount of power whether it's wired at 2ohm or 4ohm load. Both subs have same power rating and similiar specs so I think they will sound and perform very similiar. The new model also has rubber surround while the previous model has foam surround. They also have some cosmetic differences. I've heard both models and both sound/perform great. I didn't notice much difference between the two as far as sound. You can't go wrong with either one...maybe just get the one you can find a better deal on.

Like what Jlab indicated both version will perform pretty well. Although the v3 has some improvements in it, its very marginal and I doubt you'll hear the difference.

I used to own the v2 and my GF had the v3, and they both sound great.
